SOTOL

Sotol takes its name from the Nahuatl word "Tzotolin", which means "palm tree". Officially known as Dasylirion Wheeleri, this plant of the Asparagaceae family grows only in the arid deserts of Mexico, which makes the production of this drink so unique. Sotol is a traditional alcoholic beverage that has been cherished for thousands of years for its use in art, holistic medicine and religious ceremonies. Sotol is a unique product that has been protected by a Denomination of Origin since 2002, which means that only sotol plants harvested in the northern Mexican states of Chihuahua, Durango and Coahuila can be used for the production of this beverage.
