Pure & Blended Malt
For centuries, and whatever its country of origin, whisky has always been made of the same ingredients: a mixture of water, cereals and yeast. A high quality water is necessary for its elaboration. It is used in the major stages of the creation of a whisky, it influences the fermentation, during the distillation, and for a possible dilution of the distillate before the bottling. The cereal obviously plays a major role in the elaboration and determines the type and the aromatic palette of the whisky. Barley is the most widespread: used for the production of single malts, it is also found in a large number of blended whiskies, where it is associated with other cereals such as wheat, corn, rye... Each cereal brings its own characteristics and aromas. Find the selection BBC Spirits.
