Tasting notes
Nose
Rich peat and earthy smoke, with aromas of toasted oak, vanilla, oatmeal biscuits, butterscotch and Smyrna raisins, enhanced by fresh citrus notes.
Palate
Full, well-balanced and smooth, with intense earthy smoke that lingers. Layers of treacle toffee, smoked pancetta, maple syrup and cedar spice combine for a rich complexity.
FInish
Long and persistent, starting out sweet with notes of grapes, toasted pecans and syrup, balanced by intense smoke and peat that linger.

"For Peat's Sake!" exclaimed the distillery manager when Peat, the maltman, put far too much peat in the kiln during malting, causing a cloud of smoke to fill the space. A full-bodied, peaty craft whisky made from specially selected smoked single malts, skilfully blended with the finest Scotch grain whiskies. For Peat's Sake is an intensely smoky, peaty blended Scotch whisky with a rich, earthy character.
The Tomintoul distillery
The Tomintoul distillery was built in 1965 and acquired by Angus Dundee in 2000. Located in the Speyside region, Tomintoul is the fruit of the pure water of the Ballantruan spring and the fresh air of the Cairngorms National Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty. The distillery is named after the village of Tomintoul, the highest village in the Scottish Highlands.
