Barra is crafted from 17 carefully selected botanicals hand-picked from the shores of the island. Carrageenan seaweed is our key botanical that brings bold, marine notes to our gin. This red seaweed from the cool waters of the Atlantic is hand-harvested after high tides. Among the botanicals you'll find in our Barra Atlantic Gin are peppermint leaves, licorice root, lemon and orange peel, lemon balm, juniper berries, chamomile flowers, elderflowers... and of course Carrageenan seaweed. Barra gin is distilled during 6 hours thanks to a method of vapo-distillation with a steam basket for the most fragile botanicals in order to preserve the most delicate aromas. Only the heart of the distillation is used. The distillate comes out at 87.2% then it rests for 4 days before being reduced to 46 for bottling. Every drop of this gin is distilled and bottled on Barra Island.
