Its uniquely fruity, dry taste is a hallmark of Pitú's exceptional quality, and the ideal basis for a premium caipirinha.
Pitù Cachaça
Founded in 1938 in Vitória de Santo Antão in north-east Brazil, the Pitú distillery is now run by the fourth and fifth generations of the two founding families, Ferrer de Morais and Cândido Carneiro. The brand that introduced the caipirinha to Europe, Pitú is now the world's best-known brand of cachaça. The name Pitú comes from the nickname of a shrimp found in several Brazilian rivers. When the founders began production, there was a river near their distillery teeming with these shrimps, and it was even called the “Pitú River”. They decided to name the product after the river and the shrimp. In fact, this river still irrigates the region's sugarcane plantations today!
